The Meaning Behind Our Name and Symbol
The name Aotai reflects the dual foundations of our work and heritage. It blends Aotearoa, the place where our founders’ roots lie, with advanced technology and intelligent systems — the fields in which we help organizations build trust, capability, and operational resilience.
In te reo Māori, ao can represent world, light, or understanding, while tai can refer to tides, balance, and the meeting of forces. Together, these ideas reflect the changing relationship between people, systems, and technology as organizations navigate transformation in increasingly complex environments.
Our symbol is inspired by the koru, a spiral form found in New Zealand pounamu (greenstone) carvings. The koru represents growth, renewal, harmony, and the unfolding of new potential. The dual-spiral design symbolizes human and technical systems evolving together, each shaping and influencing the other over time.
This symbolism reflects our broader philosophy: trusted systems are built through balance — between innovation and responsibility, operational performance and human outcomes, and emerging technology and the environments in which it must ultimately function.
